Here's your one minute housing market video update from RE/MAX for October 2017 using September 2017 housing data based on 54 metro areas around the country.
September home sales slowed amid strong prices and low inventory. September 2017 was the fifth month this year to post a decline in home sales as compared with the record-setting 2016 year, at the same time marking the 71st consecutive month of rising sale prices year-over-year.
- Home sales down 4.2%
- Median price of homes sold up 2.3% year over year to $225,000
- Average days on market were down by 7 days to 49 days as compared with one year ago
- Number of homes for sale down 14.1%
No doubt that home buyer demand remains strong and that in many areas it's a seller's market, pure and simple. There just are not enough sellers listing their homes, despite rising prices.
