The Day Started with a Sunrise, and Ended with a Sunset…But in Between?!
It was an interesting, and varied, day today…part of what I enjoy about the real estate business, but a vivid reminder that personal time sometimes must come first, as it should!
Our day started off way before the sunrise, but we got to enjoy a gorgeous one as we arrived to check in for my wife’s surgery, a long-awaited moment. All went well, but it was, as these things are, a flurry of activity, with numerous staff, tons of questions, lots of paperwork, and a bit of a blur at 7 in the morning…and moments of feeling breathless that too much was going on, and at the same time the anticipation of so many months was now upon us.
To say the day was varied is an understatement.
There was lots of time while the surgery was happening to catch up with family, check and respond to email, answer some questions on ActiveRain, comment on some posts, and, admittedly, daydream a bit.
Then recovery, a time to visit with my wife, and listen to endless discharge instructions, with text messages flowing in…how is Mom doing? Several calls came in while we were en route home, about 4 hours after leaving for the surgery center, but I didn’t respond right then.
We got home, I got my wife settled, and I sat down to catch up…emails to 2 different buyers in Asia that I started working with (one a referral) who are looking for investments; communication with relocation buyers who are in escrow; removal of final contingencies; a quick loan pre-approval from a favorite lender on some other relocation buyers from Northern California: setting up showings for relocation clients for Wednesday and Thursday; checking in with our 2 daughters; a long talk with my Realtor cousin in Florida dealing with the recovery from Irma.
Carrying on...a long phone visit with a good friend and agent who had recently referred a wonderful seller who closed a short time ago; checking in multiple times with my wife on meds, food, water and just plain company;
And then there was writing comments and responding to questions, plus 1 post on ActiveRain; checking on new listings for several clients; a bit of downtime to watch the news; fixing dinner; multiple holds for tech support on a minor issue; talking with my daughter about real estate and some decisions; and the list goes on.
I got to enjoy a glass of wine from a wonderful bottle sent to me by a recent seller client while watching the news!
The night is not over, but my post is!! And I missed the sunset. Plus I'm sure I forgot some things I did today. But I checked off items on my To Do list so all is well.
