On October 18, 2017, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau reported regional new housing starts and building permits, in the Northeast housing building permits rose 9.2% in September of 2017 from August of 2017, but dropped 16.2% from September of 2016.
In the Midwest housing building permits up 0.5% in September of 2017 from August of 2017, and increased 2.2% from September of 2016.
In the South housing building permits decreased 5.6% in September of 2017 from August of 2017, and down 5.3% more from September of 2016.
In the West housing building permits fell 9.2% in September of 2017 from August of 2017, and declined 0.9% from September of 2016.
