When you post your listings on a listing aggregate site, how do your expectations stack up to your reality? Specifically, I'm curious about two things - the direct leads you receive and the traffic to your personal website.
Sites with a large number of available properties for sale may attract a large audience - with the expectation of property views, map views, and direct leads.
In reality, are you getting leads and how do you get them? Do they email you directly? Do they map your listing and drive by? Do they show your listing to their buyer's agent? Do they pick up the phone and call you?
And, if the listing aggregate site includes a link to your website, the expectation is this will drive traffic to your site.
After all, your site is your opportunity to showcase your listings and YOU - your expertise, professionalism, superior service, knowledge of the market and the industry, etc. You've invested in your site and it is an integral part of your personal branding. Wouldn't you rather the home shopper left the sea of listings and spent time with you?
Obviously, both leads and exposure for your personal brand are vitally important to your overall marketing strategy and listing aggregate sites can play a part of that strategy.
But, I'm curious. Overall, does your reality meet your marketing expectations? If not, don't adjust your expectations. Adjust your marketing mix for a better reality.
Hi Rebecca! I actually get about two to three good leads a week that will call or email me based on my posting. I'm definitely getting enough good business from this that my expectations have been exceeded.
