What can I buy with a million points?

Right on target - and - re-blog!
So I've been watching my ActiveRain point total inch up over the last month or so, as it neared the one million point mark. Yesterday I told my husband I almost reached a million points on ActiveRain, and he looked at me with a big question mark on his face. In explanation, I said, "It doesn't buy me anything!" There isn't any big reason to even watch the points go up, except that the points really do encourage me to keep posting. And they're fun.
So now I've joined the ever expanding group of millionaires on ActiveRain. And as with many others before me, I feel an obligation to share what posting here means to me.
It means business. I have received clients from other ActiveRain members. I've helped sellers and buyers I wouldn't ever have met because of my ActiveRain friends. It's been a wonderful experience.
I have also given business to others. ActiveRain is the first place I go to find an agent in another location. The most recent example was a personal purchase. My husband and I decided we wanted to look at property in Montana, and after doing some research on this site, I contacted a broker who had not posted recently but seemed to be a good match. As it turned out, she retired, but her daughter had been in business for quite a while. We connected, and not only were we able to successfully purchase property with her daughter, but we can now count her (and her husband) as new friends.
In addition to the business listed above, I have also received calls from future clients as a result of my posts. For example, there was a seller who contacted me because she happened to read a post I wrote about my neighbor's cat. When she got to the bottom of the post, she realized I was a real estate professional and she just happened to be ready to sell her house. Eyeballs are definitely out there reading what we write, and they can turn into business as well.
In addition to business, ActiveRain also means learning. I've learned a ton of information about how real estate works in other parts of the country, and even in my state. ActiveRain is the first place I go if I want to get knowledge about the industry, whether it's about software I might be considering, or about working with other agents, or anything else of interest. This has really become my real estate encyclopedia, the place to go for data.
But even more important than the business and information listed above are the friendships that I've found here. While some friendships remain virtual (at least for the time being), I've been thrilled to meet and talk to other ActiveRainers. There are real people here behind the words on a screen, and many are truly wonderful; freely sharing their thoughts, advice and time. I am immensely appreciative of everyone who has touched my life in some way. Those who are still here posting on a regular basis, and those who are no longer here because they have passed away, or have just moved on. From the bottom of my heart, my thanks go out to all of you!
Now it's on to my next million points!
