Real Estate Photography building my client base one photograph at a time…
I have been a Realtor for over 20+ years in the greater Los Angeles area and I can still remember taking three ‘rolls’ of pictures of a brand new” single family listing” followed by a mad dash to the photography store to develop them. I also remember paying a “rush fee” to get it done faster in order that, I could start the “marketing process” sooner. I also recall having had an old “Leica” and then upgrading to a Canon EOS. (for those who are not familiar they were top of the line cameras in their day)
Next thing you know the Digital Age of photography arrived and this in turn created a cottage industry of professional photographers who got into the “Real Estate Support Business”.
As time progressed, I graduated from my small Olympus Digital Camera to hiring award winning architectural photographers to handle my real estate photography needs. This in turn has morphed into a new area, where I started purchasing packages that integrated ‘Floorplans with Virtual Tours’.
As time progressed the need to have a camera seemed to have gone to the wayside for me. When it comes to high profile listings such as luxury homes or luxury vacant land in the greater Los Angeles area, I would subcontract the job to the professional photographers.
As these technology changes were taking place in the Real Estate Photography, parallel to this, the smart phone industry and their technology was improving by leaps and bounds as well.
I also recall taking vacation photos that went from average photos to stellar photos due to the improvements of the smart phone camera technology. This in turn has lead me to taking a great many vacant land listing photos with my Samsung Phone, so I could start the marketing while I was waiting to get appointments from the “professional photographers”.
Just to give you examples I have illustrated this post with my latest land listing’s pictures that are also in the MLS as well. I feel comfortable with these marketing photos, considering the fact, that I have received calls already from France, British Columbia and China to name a few wanting to have these views.
