Bob barrI am pleased to announce that Libertarian Presidential Candidate, Bob Barr, will be my guest on tomorrow's Simon Conway Radio Experience which airs in Central Florida every Saturday at 4pm Eastern. You can also tune in worldwide at www.1520whim.com

Bob is in fact just one guest in a packed show tomorrow where we will amongst other things be talking about Polar Bears! The crazy situation where we have an incredibly lazy species now on the endangered species list. Where are the Darwinists when you need them?

The thing is, back in 1978 there were 5,000 polar bears. Now there are 25,000 and so obviously we must put them on the list. I have an environmentalist expert joining me on that one.

We also have the Chair of the Florida Democrats coming on. I always like to present both sides, but it will not be possible to have them as my guest and not talk about their disenfranchisement. What is going to happen in Denver? Will there be riots? We will find out direct from the horse's mouth (or maybe that should be Donkey?)

Anyway, all that will lead up to Bob Barr and don't forget you can pose questions directly to him on 407 682 9595.

Why BOB BARR - What are your top ten hard ball questions for him ?

Ask him why he has such a low opinion of Americans understanding of history. He made a very patronizing comment on Neal Boortz about Americans don't know history. It was very broad and inclusive.  Unfortunately, I was in the car and couldn't write down his exact comments.

I wasn't especially impressed.

Lazy? I tried hiring a polar bear to mow the lawn. He ate all the rabbits and nibbled the postman. Now I only employ herbivores. Good luck with the Radio Show, Simon. I'm just jealous. The last time I was handed a mic I was calling BINGO numbers in the basement of Saint Roch's.

Why Bob Barr? Are you serious? He will very likely pull 3% of the national vote and could actually decide who gets the Presidency.

Mike - duly noted.

Andrew - uh huh - LAZY! They are too slow and too fat to catch food inland so they wait on the edge of the sea ice for those nice cuddly seal pups to come along and then they slip into the water and eat them. I'm going to propose we go on a seal clubbing trip to help out the lumbering bear. Oh and is it racist that we are helping out the poor cuddly WHITE polar bear, but the BLACK bear can fend for itself? I smell conspiracy! :)

I hope to be able to tune in Simon.  Barr may very well be my choice.  If I'm not mistaken, he is in favor of The Fair Tax.  Perhaps you could ask him his position on it for me?

Mike,

I'm not sure what you find patronizing about his observation regarding people's lack of knowledge/understanding of history.  Most American's are clueless about our history and world history.  Most don't even know that we are not a Democracy.  If more people had a working knowledge of our history and the struggles our founding fathers went through in the shaping of our constitution things would no doubt be very different today.

Simon,

Congrats on landing such a high profile interview!

Tim - you are right on the money when it comes to the history of this nation. The subject should not be the comment he made, but how we educate the people better.

I will ask him about his tax position, but please do feel free to call in and ask him yourself - 407 682 9595

It should be both. His comment was very cavalier and patronizing, very liberal and Democratic. I do remember the context now. Barr was using that as justification for his calling U.S. troops in Iraq occupiers. Boortz challenged this & called them liberators. There was some reference to WWII and Barr brought up the history thing.

Yes, too many people think that, at the federal level we are a democracy (they may be right at the local and state levels, depending upon where they live). But that is a failure, on the most part, in what they are taught and what they see from those at the federal level, on both sides, including Bush.

Simon, ask about his Iraq position.

I am sorry I will not be able to call in and listen, I am attending a class this afternoon.

Interesting that the guy is a local.  Unfortunately nobody even knows who he is, so he really doesn't stand a chance of getting elected at this point.

If he is living here, he is not actually here right now. He will be calling it in and certainly "where are you living" is not on my list of questions! :)

Should be interesting, Simon.

I've researched Bob Barr and more inline with Tim.  Not overly thrilled with his agenda. Some things are ok but not nearly enough.

Also, I'm not sure that even if he get's 5% of the vote; that will make any impact on the RNC.  I think we need to engage other ideas and solutions.

Good luck with the show today and maybe he'll surprise us some.

Meet Bob Barr

Bob Barr is the Republican Congressman from Georgia who sponsored the anti-gay Defense of Marriage Act, saying "The flames of hedonism, the flames of narcissism, the flames of self-centered morality are licking at the very foundation of our society, the family unit." He was married three times, and paid for his second wife's abortion (she also suspected he was cheating on her). he failed to pay child support to the children of his first two wives and while married to his third and present wife and was photographed licking whipped cream off of strippers at his inaugural party.

Terry,

He sounds like someone Bill Clinton would love to hang with... perhaps he can garner all those votes that would have gone to Hillary if she'd been able to defeat Obama. LOL

BTW, your info may very well be accurate but when making such inflamatory statements you might want to consider providing links to your sources.

Maybe you could call Simon's show and ask about these things.  I am listening now and he is about to be on the air with Simon.

Tim and Susan, I'd be happy to post the link to my source. BTW I didn't make an inflammatory statement, I copied and pasted from an article I googled.  Easy to do, anyone has access.

Here ya go, its from a newspaper

I believe Terry gets some of her information from dkosopedia.com, a wikipedia wanna be published by the daily kos

at the top of the page on Barr (and other republican sex scandals) is the disclaimer:

This article contains assertions without appropriate source citations, such as websites and publications affiliated with the subject of the article. You can help dKosopedia by including appropriate citations.

Her exact quote is from a section of the page that is from unattributed sources

She hasn't added that he is a member of the ACLU, opposes the Federal Marriage Act, opposes the Patriot Act.

Yes, he may have paid for his second wife's abortion, however, she demanded it as her right, and, under the law, he could not stop it.

I am not a big Bob Barr fan, but, at least I will look at the complete story. Now, all of her information may be accurate, but then again, the site that I believe she got it from publishes a disclaimer that it makes no allusions to the truthfulness and accuracy of the information.

Mike, I posted the link.  If you go to it you can read it yourself.  Its from a freakin newspaper.  As always, failure to substantiate your allegations are going to get you in trouble.  But I keep forgetting, the truth is something you are not interested in.

341,393 Points 4 Featured Posts Outside Blog

Why Terry - yes you did, finally. But it was after I started searching and found it on the kos site. And, if you read correctly, I said I believe you got it from.... talk about not being interested in the truth.

As for the quote being from a newpaper, so what? The article is trying to cover up a governor's alledged violation of oath by redirecting, and that redirection was clearly politically biased. But, since I am familiar with that paper (having lived in that area for over 10 years), that does not surprise me.

What kind of trouble are you referring to Terry? Did you read the last sentence of that post?

Just trouble with yourself Mike cause you just don't want to see the truth.  I did figure you would label that newspaper as "liberal" or "politically biased", cause gee, if the story doesn't fit what you want to believe, then it has to be biased.  Yeah I could just see "coverup" written all over that article.  But hey, that wasnt the only source for that information.  Check em all out, they all say the same.

Simon,

Excellent show - I am IMPRESSED!  I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As you said after the Barr segment, it would have been great to have had more time to go into more depth on the Iraq / Iran situation.  I had my phone in hand ready to call when you asked him about his position on the war as that is one issue that I am undecided on.

Like most Americans, I was in favor of going into Iraq when we did.  Like others I based my opinion on the information we had at the time.  I am not convinced that we need to stay there now, however, although I do not want to see an all out withdrawal.

I thought Barr's explanation regarding 'occupiers' vs 'liberators' was well stated and I tend to agree with what he said.  I was glad to hear him say that he favors a gradual withdrawal of the troops.

As I have stated before, I will NOT vote for McCain but I WILL vote.  At this point in time I am leaning most heavily toward whoever the Libertarian candidate is and I hope that Barr is that person.  I am under no delusion that he will win but that is okay.  I am hopeful that this election will mark a time in history when the Libertarian party will become a major player in the process OR that the Republican party will return to its roots.

One thing I am more certain of than ever before is that a McCain victory would be the most damaging thing that could happen to America in the long run.

Tim

Oh yeah... I hope to listen in on your show as often as possible.  GREAT JOB!

Tim - I'm pleased you enjoyed it. We get very nice reviews from the audience so that's always good. Increasingly I do not think I can vote for McCain either, but it is a big pill to swallow because I know that the more of us who can't pull that lever for him, the more likely it is we are contributing to putting a Democrat in the White House.

I have e-mail from a number of AR people. I will try and get to it all tomorrow.

The number is posted on this blog (which proves you never read the alternate opinion); your ability to embarrass only exists in your own brain so never let that stop you, but you seem so obsessed with the man that I don't understand why you would give up such a golden opportunity to confront him. Oh well.

Well of course I read your blog Simon, how else would I have commented.  I did see the hyperlink, which for me wouldn't work because I can't listen to streaming radio on my old PC.  I did not however see the phone number at the bottom.  Maybe next time you could put that number in a different color so it stands out.  And yeah, its just me here inside my little brain, embarassing myself and others for the entertainment.  That said, I'm sure you would rather I hadn't called in, because I just might have embarassed your guest.

BTW Simon, you might want to check out that polar bear statistic.  The number of 5000 bears in 1978 was for one given region.  The current number of 25,000 is the estimated total worldwide.  In some regions bears populations have increased slightly due to the ban on hunting.  In other regions, due to loss of habitat and no ban on hunting the numbers are declining.  And in still other regions, polar bears are now found on land, because there is no ice left.  Polar bears hybernate on land, give birth to their young on land, then migrate to the sea, where they spend the majority of their time swimming from ice berg to ice berg hunting food.  If there is no ice, there is no way for them to hunt.  Declining ice is a real situation, happening right now, whether anyone choses to belief it is due to climate change or not, the polar bear worldwide is threatened.

Terry - truly I am not trying to embarrass you, but the call in number is right in the comments which you say you read in bold letters. Anyway, perhaps I'm glad you didn't call in because you probably would have become disrespectful and then I'd of had to cut you off.

Oh and double checked the polar bear stat - I am right and you are wrong. In addition to that, there are 22 populations of polar bear; more than half of those are stable, two are increasing and two are decreasing. The two areas of declining polar bear populations are where it has gotten COLDER over the last 50 years. The increasing populations are where it has gotten WARMER over the same period. Apparently, just like us, extreme cold always kills more than extreme heat,

The one the environmentalists like to talk about is the one in Hudson Bay, Canada. Remember they blamed global warming for the decline, but the reality is if you took away every effect the environmentalists lay at man's door re global warming, you would save around 0.06 polar pears a year - 817 times that number die from hunting each year in that area.

Finally you say it is about ice. The news channels favorite graphic is of a big chunk of ice falling into the sea off greenland. What they don't tell you is that while that does indeed happen, overall the ice in Greenland has INCREASED.

Simon, as I SAID in my comment, I didn't notice the PHONE number.  Or is it that you can't read?  As for the populations.  I checked out the sites that are basically anti-polar bear, and those figures compare to yours.  But IF you check out the sites from the, OMG, USGS, or how bout NORWAY which has the largest population in the world, or some of the environmental sites the figures are different.  I didn't just pull that information out of my butt!

Hugh, its called lockstep!  You and Simon march in lockstep to everything that is anti anything good.

Simon, you know exactly what I mean, because I looked at those sites too.  When Norway reports statistics, and the USGS reports statistics, those are just a little more credible than the anti-environmental so called "statistics".  If you want to think the polar bears are doing just great, go a head.  Just like everything else you want to think.

He was educated at Oxford University, the University of London and the Imperial College of science, Technology and Medicine.

Dr Jay Lehr (really too much to write about this guy) - Holds a degree in Geological Engineering from Princeton; Earned one of the nation's first Ph.D.s in Environmental Science from the University of Arizona; Began his career with the United States Geological Survey after serving in the U.S. Navy's Civil Engineering Corps in the Far East rising to the rank of Lt. I could go on to my friend the NASA scientist who now works at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, but that's probably overkill.
