The Uptown neighborhood

Uptown is a neighborhood in Central Denver. 20th Avenue to the north, Park Ave at northeast, N. Downing St east, N. Broadway to the west and E. Colfax Ave south bounds the Uptown community. Uptown is known for its lively new restaurants, chic shops, and happy, progressive vibe.

A mix of Victorian and Queen Anne homes blend with modern high-rise apartments and lofts built along tree-lined boulevards make up Denver’s oldest residential neighborhood. North Capitol Hill, often referred to as Uptown, is a center city neighborhood near the Colorado State Capitol. The area has a diverse population, similar to surrounding communities of Five Points, Capitol Hill and LoDo.

What type of activities is available near the Uptown Neighborhood?

Uptown is close to many of Denver's public amenities. The neighborhood has many highlights that residents and visitors alike are Restaurant Row, the stretch of 17th Avenue running from Broadway to City Park that has many cafes, bistros, taco bars, fine dining establishments, upscale restaurants and some favorite bars and clubs – almost all with outdoor patios.

It’s also where you’ll find Denver’s most significant green space, City Park. The tree-covered park is home to the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and has miles of jogging and biking paths, offering spectacular panoramic views of more than 120 miles of snow-capped peaks.

If you're moving into the neighborhood with your children, there are a good number of schools to choose. Institutions that support the community include Denver Green School, Cole Arts And Science Academy, East High School and Bruce Randolph School. There are also many school districts supporting Denver with Denver 1 School District getting the best results. Colorado has the SchoolChoice program which allows students to transfer from one school to another. Uptown residents have an excellent education. 72.37% of residents have a college degree or higher while 96.26% have a high school diploma.
