Expats in Baja: What's the attraction?

What's the attraction?

I suspect when Americans think about living abroad, they focus on places like Baja due to it's proximity and because they see them on the Best Places to Retire lists.

Well, weather, cost of living and lifestyle are the top reasons* for moving to this mexican state.

Turns out most of them saw their expectations met and were really happy they moved. I have people telling me they feel lucky because they were not happy in their home countries due to changes in laws, taxation and many other factors.

While of course Mexico has a little problematic fame, it is not the norm in most of the country, and certainly not in Baja.

In fact,  towns like Rosarito Beach, Ensenada, Puerto Nuevo,  and the south peninsula, just to name a few are very peaceful places to live with all the amenities you want.

Come join the club!

If you find yourself day-dreaming about the sound of waves rolling in, the smell of salt in the air, and the cool ocean breeze on your face while you sip your first cup of coffee, let me tell you something: There are a few among us who haven't thought about living this dream by investing in some beachfront property in the Baja Peninsula or beyond.

So, if you are interested in becoming an expat and live in Mexico mainland, be sure to first visit and look out where and how you may live in what many of us believe to be paradise.

There are so many positive to living here. Okay, okay...it might not be for everyone. That is why I suggest renting for a while, if all is well, take the plunge and buy. While you are renting make extreme efforts to explore all aspects of daily (non-touristic) life in Baja.

We will welcome you with our arms wide open.
