Inspect Before and Inspect After

By
Home Stager with Prudential Ambassador / Ross Designs, LLC

This past Monday I had a corporate rental installation.  Everything went smoothly and since I had a luncheon appointment, my assistant handled most of the furniture directing, unpacking, etc.

Because this order included a washer and dryer, I made sure to locate the laundry room for my assistant and I noticed that half of the window trim was missing.  I thought it was odd and assumed our new home owner knew about it.

Today when discussing a few items with the client he asked about the missing window trim. He thought perhaps my delivery guys had caused the damage when installing his rental washer/dryer set.  After I told him I saw that and thought he already knew about it, he was glad to have my word as "back up" and is going to contact his REA.

Whew!  Glad that I had taken the time to get to the house before the delivery guys and that I had checked things out ahead of time.  Moral of the story is: always inspect all areas of the home you, or your delivery crew, will be bringing things into and ALSO check out all areas when you are done.  A Stager can save themselves a lot of potential stress by noting any damages ahead of time and ensuring when everything is installed that no damage has occurred.

Tori you are so right.  Whenever we stage a home with hardwood floors I always take pictures of any scratches before we start our work and show them to the client.  This has saved us more than once.  Our furniture guys are very, very careful when they bring in any of their rentals, so I don't want any questionable items being raised after the fact.  Thanks for the post.
