Confusion

Confusion reigns.

Last Saturday we had a dusting of snow.

This weekend temperatures are pushing 60, we've got thunderstorms and a tornado watch for our area.

This isn't exactly our normal for this time of year!

And what's also not normal?

Mowing my lawn in November!

And what else did I notice while mowing that's not normal for this time of year?

Azaleas blooming.  First I found this one.

white azalea

Just one bloom on the entire bush.  Just one branch that thought "It's Spring, let's go for it!"

But that wasn't the only stray bloom, there was one more to be found!

pink azalea

Now that one had a little company, with a few more buds threatening to burst open any day now!

But fortunately, the other 50 azalea shrubs all seem to be operating on a normal schedule.  Come next spring we'll have an explosion of pinks, whites, yellows and oranges all along the woodline.

Liz and Bill Spear - I woke up this morning to an inch of snow and slick roads. Most has melted, but we still have some around our yard. And temperatures this week are predicted to be no higher than the 40's. That is early for us to be this cold.

I could handle some confusion like that.  We got snow and it has mostly stayed.

You've got some distance north on us.  I used to visit Minneapolis on business and sometimes that meant winter trips.  Way colder than I'm used to!

With weather that weird, no wonder some plants get confused. Enjoy them while they last and hope they will bloom again in the Spring!

Most of our flowers are done for the year, but there are a few hanging on and some blooming out of season.

BLiz- your poor plants don't know whether they're coming or going!  What nice surprises to find when you're out working in your garden.

Oh, I love azaleas, even those of the confused variety.  Sadly, we have sooo many trees, azaleas would not like us, so I'll just enjoy your photos!

We have about 50 azaleas total along the woodline of our yard.  For the most part they do pretty well.

My mom said theirs in West Virginia are also blooming.  No sign of blossoms on ours (I'm assuming the deer haven't chomped them yet).
