BILLIONS TO BE SPENT ON DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH IN LAS VEGAS

If you didn’t notice it before Las Vegas is definitely out of the recession and in major growth mode.  Within the next few months a noteworthy amount of construction projects will be up and running on the Strip as well as off the Strip.

Several projects like the Fontainebleau and Resorts World that were put on hold due to the economic downturn a few years ago are now ready to resume.  The Fontainebleau was sold this past August to an investment firm and work is scheduled to resume within months.  Resort World owned by the Malaysian company Gentling recently announced the appointment of W.A. Richardson Builders as the construction manager for the site.

In a few days the groundbreaking on the Raiders’ football stadium will occur and the completion of the stadium is expected in time for the 2020 season.  On the northern end of the strip is another sports related project All Net Arena and Resort, a project with a 22,000 seat arena with a retraceable roof, a 63-story with 2,000 room hotel, retail spaces and other amenities.

Another project is the expansion of the convention center –phase two- that is set to begin in 2018.  The amount of conventions that are hosted in Las Vegas during the week keeps occupancy rates higher than national levels.

Bottom Line – Las Vegas is definitely in the middle of significant growth.  There other possible projects being talked about and I’m sure we will hear about them in the next few months.
