OOPS...What to Do When You Can’t Access ActiveRain.

It’s Monday morning and you’re ready to go. Post, then do a quick check for comments on ActiveRain. You have your coffee in hand then oops!waiting

It’s not the end of the world, and it’s not the only time this has happened.

In the big scheme of things, it’s not all that important.

Servers have issues no matter the site, and the crew here is excellent about doing their best to fix whatever’s broken behind the infamous curtain.

So what can you do if you can’t access ActiveRain?

First, find out if it’s the whole site, a few servers, or you.

1. There are Facebook groups you can join to see if others are also having issues accessing the site. One group is ActiveRain and there’s another called ActiveRain Peeps.

2.Text a fellow member or an ActiveRain Ambassador.

3.Contact the ActiveRain support staff

4. Restart your computer...had to throw that it because everyone always wants you to do that if you are having issues.

5.Delete your cookies. You can grab some cookies to eat while you do this as well.

And what if it’s not you but the site?

1.If you’re really diligent, start writing your marketing or monthly stats posts.

2.Still need your ActiveRain fix? Use this time to pick up the phone and contact a fellow member...maybe someone you’d not spoken to in a while, or someone you’ve wanted to call but just haven’t.

3.Work on other marketing projects you have on your To Do list.

4. Get out!  Go enjoy the fresh air...experience life. ActiveRain will still be here.

Nina Hollander I hear you. Posting is the last thing I do before heading out for my walk!

Hi James Dray I did get it!  I was out and had to keep checking on Facebook to see what the status was.

Barbara Todaro I figured that it would come back whenever it did and until then, I had other things to do.

Wayne Martin it's frustrating, but life does go on.

Amanda S. Davidson so true. I was about to text Liz and Bill Spear but saw his message in a Facebook group.

Kat Palmiotti you're absolutely right! I know I bookmarked it but forgot about it.

Considering I haven't paid AR a dime in years, it's hard for me to be too bothered if the site is down.  I know it's temporary and I'll get to write and post later in the day.  And it's not like I lack for OTHER things I could (and should) be doing.  Bill

I got a strange message this morning that the system was overloaded with activity.  I closed the program and went back in 5 minutes later and wa-la.

Hi Kathy - Yep. Yesterday morning, I was planning on writing the photo contest post. Fortunately, the site was back up fairly quickly after I discovered it was down, and finding something esle to do is never a problem.

You're absolutely right.  All platforms will go down at one point or another.  It's best to simply chill and wait.

Hi Kathy --- a good swear word may not help the situation...but then again...I'm not sure there's "anything" in particular that will help so I'll use a few choice words...just in case.

Sheila Anderson it's like anything else...we want things to work when we need them.
