Aerial view photos!
We who have been in real estate for many years really appreciate the ease with which we can obtain photos of our listings. In Searcy AR we can go to a free courthouse web site called ActDataScout.com and find out the information about a property. Not many years ago we had to pay 10 cents a minute to get the information online, which was a good thing because before that we had to visit the county assessor's office to get the information.
Even at the court buildings, however, we could not get aerial-view photos. In the early 90's I had an 1800 acre piece of property that I was selling off in small sections. Getting aerial view photos was expensive and was ordered from, I think, the highway department. The price for a section or two was around $40 to $50 and was black and white.
Now we can go online to the ActDataScout.com site and just click on "map it." Not only do we get to see the parcel we are searching but we can see who owns all around the property, and get all the information that we need! Immediately! Thank you, progress and White County folks in charge!
I said all that just to point out the aerial view above of Harding University (at that time, Harding College) and invite you to look it over. Harding has grown considerably but you can see the old houses and buildings that were around it!! I specifically remember the white house that was on the corner of East Race and Grand and it shows in this picture way up at the top almost in the center.
Searcy Sleuths, you may remember more of the houses and you may know the date. I do see the old Galloway Hall so perhaps it was not Harding! But Galloway???
