Wordless Wednesday...Where Did It All Go?

It’s been just over 2 months since Hurricane Irma hit Florida and to look around, things are back to normal.

If you look hard and up, you can see some broken branches.

All things considered, we are fortunate, and certainly blessed if you consider all of the other things that have gone on this year.

hurricane irma debirs

Rather than structural damage, our area suffered primarily downed trees. Residents placed our leaves and branches on the street for trucks to pick them up.

Over the days and weeks, everything turned brown.

So where were all of these truck taking all of this?

hurricane irma debris at west delray regional park

On a trek out to the Radio Controlled Airfield in West Delray Regional Park, we saw exactly where at least some of it was going.

It was one big mulching facility!

Hi Kathy - I'm so glad you guys escaped the worst of Irma and that you're almost back to normal. It has been a really bad year for natural disasters.

Hi Kathy, clean up in my area is still going on, we were blessed to have minimal damages. Like in your area, most of the branches are going to a large mulching facility.

Kathy,

Mulch is good, and our city picks up all the green stuff, mulches and resells it.  Win/win.  A

Barbara Todaro many here are doing what they can to send goods to Puerto Rico.

Dorie Dillard We wondered too until we drove out and saw it. It does make sense.

George Souto I have no idea but at this point, no wants to touch it.

Beth Atalay A friend didn't get his power on for over a week, and then he had to deal with the water that was in his house. He's in Orlando.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel FEMA asked everyone to separate the vegetation from other items but that wasn't always the case, which makes it harder in the end.

Hi Kathy,  It's so amazing how much damage Mother Nature can inflict by one storm.  Thankful things in your area weren't too bad.

It's amazing how they are able to deal with so much and get everything back to normal again after a huge storm. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be happening in Puerto Rico.
