This post is in response to the 4th Annual Pay It Forward Challenge for November, 2017. Thinking about this challenge and I figure there's no better way than to Pay It Forward! There are certainly folks that are far worse off than anyone simply waiting for the next home to close escrow.
Having volunteered at the Watkins Shelter, by UMOM, for 6 years in a row, I can tell you that seeing the same faces each holiday season was sad. Knowing that those folks had not transitioned past the same shelter is sad.
Sometimes we get caught up in the every day grind of making sure we have enough toothpaste if we run out. But what if there are no extra tubes of toothpaste? What if your basic necessities have no back up supplies? Something to think about.
Since my networking group disbanded this year, I chose two additional charities to volunteer and donate funds.
This past Saturday, 11/25/17, I attended and donated to the McKenna Youth Foundation. This worthwhlie charity has helped thousands of families in the Phoenix Metro Area by providing food, toys, resources and about 100 bicycles a year! I'm fortunate to know the founders of the foundation, which is a good reason to support efforts made personal by others.
Secondly, I volunteered to man a kettle!
Real Estate Wednesdays was founded by a local real estate team to man that kettle at Sam's clubs, Costcos, and Walmart stores in the area.
Helping to raise thousands, realtors have made a huge impact on the community and I'm proud to volunteer for the Salvation Army.
Thank you to LaTonia Gore, Stewart Title, for organizing.
My fellow Volunteer, Vicki Best is a new friend at my company, so thank you for taking me up on my Facebook post and volunteering!
We can all pay it forward, just find the charity that provides the most to your local community!
