Eric:  Well... congratulations to you for being able to implement this new marketing tool.  I hope it brings you oodles of business.  By the way... I really like your "descriptor" sentence at the end of your post.  Very nicely done !

Karen Anne, I wanted to be the first to introduce this Global Luxury Home Search utility to AR.  With all the negativity about widgets that seems to be going around, I felt this one deserved some attention.  It doesn't slow the loading of my page and it seems to work well.

Thanks for noticing the "tag"!

Karen Anne, there is mutual admiration going on here!  You must know I'm a huge fan of your writing and your ability to reach out to so many people on ActiveRain.

I've never been called a goose before, but you have a way of making it sound very nice!!!

Charles -- It's fun to see what's out there in the ultra-luxury category, isn't it?  I spend a fair amount of time browsing the Global Luxury Home Search myself.

I like having a widget that no one else seems to have (at least for now)!

As far as I can detect, the widget isn't slowing down the loading of my blog pages.  It seems to open after the page does, which was one of the recommended fixes for blog problems that I mentioned in my recent tech post on widgets:

Eric...what is the price point on a "luxury" home?...just curious!

Joan -- LuxuryRealEstate.com has their own internal criteria for the price threshold of luxury listings they will allow to be listed on the site.  As I understand it, that threshold price is based upon area, among other factors.

To me, classifying a property as "luxury" may not always be related to price.  To many, a second home is a luxury, whether it be a modest cabin in the woods or a seaside villa.

Most would consider a million-dollar home to be in the luxury category.  The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing regards the luxury bracket as being the top ten percent of the area marketplace (based upon recent sales statistics), but not below $500,000 in any case.

Joan -- Back in late March, Leo Vinteler posted a great article on how to define a luxury home:

You'll read some worthwhile opinions on the subject there.
