This last fall I spent some time down on the Bremerton Boardwalk taking photos of the new attractions and learning about the revitalization projects that were complete.  Harborside Fountain Park was one of my favorite.

Below is the article I wrote back in October or you can click here and see it with the fall pictures.

This past Thursday, with the weather being in the mid 70's and finally seeing some sun and blue sky I headed down to take more photos and some video.

Below are two videos I shot and some pictures of the park in the spring!

You can bet I will be doing some more blogging from Harborside Fountain Park!

Bremerton's newest park addition - and all I can say is WOW!!

I had read a little about the park which opened in May (2007)of this year but had yet to visit.  What is called "Harborside" is at the other side of the Boardwalk.  I was able to walk up the stairs to the ferry terminal and cross over. I stood up above and looked down at this amazing park. The vegetation, the stone sculptures and the copper fountains - AMAZING!!

There are these five copper fountains that "burst" water into the air at different times and different intervals.  I had no idea. I was just watching the water fall down the sides when all of a sudden "burst" and with this loud swishing water sound out came this large stream of water. I was so caught off guard that I screamed!! I was the only one in the park so that made me laugh!!

I know this is a place that people can "play" in the fountains and I also had read that people are debating whether the copper fountains are designed after volcanoes or whale spouts.  I guess either could be right since we are on a whale "run" and so close to a volcano.  When the water isn't "spurting" they remind me of submarine sails. Guess that is the Navy spouse in me. These fountains where designed by the same company that designed the fountains out front of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas - so you can only imagine they are amazing!

I will be spending some time at this park - it is like I said - AMAZING!!

This is such a cool & nice spot to relax! And especially on a day like we had today (though the whether from your video seemed a bit more to my taste). Today was just too hot here in Los Angeles so I wouldn't mind that wind blowing some water in my face.

We have local parks here in Los Angeles but nothing like this really. And I'm assuming access is free?

Ricardo, it amazes me how much cooler it is next to the water. I had a light jacket on. Of course there were others in their swimsuits! It was about 75 degrees perfect for me. Anything over 75 and I am not happy! Yep, access is free! Have a great weekend!

What a beautiful park Jo!  I couldn't get the videos to play but I think it's the slow satellite connection.  Did you roll up your pants legs and get in and play in the fountain? I'm not crazy about anything over 45 these days although I think that has something to do with age!  :-)

Kathy, Did you try just hitting the white arrrow? I don't have them on auto start and maybe I should.  I really didn't want to wade in a pool where people (kiddos) with diapers on were swimming! lol! It was cooler down by the water I had jeans and a jacket on and was fine.

Jo:  Loved the video clips, it gives reader a true image of the revitalization and how modern it has become. It amazes me how much the little town of Bremerton has changed.  For a long time the only thing that was beautiful about Bremerton was the area coming off of 16 around the main gate.  I heard you guys have had beautiful sunshine weather the past few days. I missed seeing the fountains last summer, but it is on my to do list when I get home.  I enjoy reading your post it makes me feel like I am up in the Great Northwest (as some would say God's Country).  Thank you for taking the time to highlight the Bremerton area and sharing it with everyone.

Michelle, I am glad you enjoyed the videos I am really new at this and they are a little shaky and well I know need improvement but you have to start somewhere! lol!  I am sure yesterday they were really used! When I came home from visiting my son in Kent my house was 88!! I love the sun but hate the heat over 75!
