We got a call recently from a phone number caller ID only
identified as out of state with an area code from out west. 
Not unusual it could be a ...."This is Suzy from Credit Card Services"....or ???? We answer every call...one never knows what the "or" might be.
It was an agent who without "interviewing" us said that from what she had read on the internet, she knew we were the right agents to handle the sale of her sister's estate.H Chin trembling, I offered my sympathy and asked her how we could be of assistance. She told me that other siblings who lived in the state but not in the area of her sister's home would be handling the sale. Her Sister was in hospice and two siblings had her power of attorney and they would become her personal representatives upon her death. We were to contact them as soon as possible and meet them aat the property.
We met and the Brother asked us to do an evaluation of what might be done to the house to improve the value before listing it. We brought several contractors to the house and supplied the quotes for various things so that if they chose not to do all of them, they knew how much each thing would cost.
Decisions were made quickly with exterior work done first to escape the "too cold to paint" weather. This week the inside will begin to be done with colors and materials chosen and ready to be installed and give "new life" to thie house which will be on the market next month.
We have been where these folks are when we sold my Mom's house...the hardest thing we ever did. We have empathy for their situation and the memories that the children have of the times they spent in the house.
We are thankful.....that we were chosen as the agents who would give the property the care and respect that the family has for their sister's memory. We know that we have become the adults that our parents would be thankful they raised...and no one could ask for more than that.
