Allow Time for an Off Site Meeting Day, Insights for Next Year

                 Everyone’s business cycles can be different throughout the year.  When you have off periods or times of slowdown you should be focusing on creating new strategies for drumming up new business.  It is hard to dedicate too much time and attention to this when you are bogged down in the heat of the busy season.  That is why flexing your creative juices during slowdown periods is most beneficial.  Not only will it prevent you from burning out, but switching focus to something else does wonders for motivation. In Highlands Ranch property management, we often find a slight slowdown in November and December.  We are always taking on new clients however, so that does not take a rest.  November and December are when we schedule our off-site meetings and focus on putting everything we do to paper, and using those insights to plan for the next year ahead. 

                Offsite meetings are helpful because they get you out of the office and away from the distractions of phones and walk ins.  They allow you to focus completely on the task at hand.  This can sometimes take a long time and so your full attention is paramount.  Schedule these off-site visits during your slow periods to achieve optimal brainstorming ability.  This is the time to figure out if there are any break downs or blind spots in your business.  It is also the time to figure out if you are going to do something new next year.

                Brainstorming is not easy, there is always a learning curve.  How steep that curve is depends on you and your team.  Have you set up the right environment to figure out what you are doing?  Have you identified weaknesses and expanded on them?  Have you fleshed out ideas that have come to you all year?  Have you matched these insights with forward looking goals?  As you can see there is a lot to take into consideration when doing things like that.  Feedback from your industry circles and support networks helps too.  You never know what one piece of constructive critics can grant you for an offsite visit.  What may seem a throwaway idea at first could be the first of many steps heading to a potential breakthrough.  That is important to keep track of.  Your next business idea or accomplishment could be right around the corner.
