Countdown to Thanksgiving...The Gift of Music

This morning I woke up early. Sleep was elusive so I started my day at 4:30 instead of 5:30, using that extra hour to read, respond to emails and do some small tasks in the kitchen. By 6:30 I was in the car as planned, heading to Edgewood County Park in San Mateo where I met a friend for an early morning hike.

Dawn at Edgewood County Park

We hiked for about an hour and a half. A short drive then took me to a city park where I could change into "Realtor duds" and comb my hair in a bathroom; now I was ready for my first business appointment of the day: showing my lease listing to a potential renter.

street tree, Mt. Carmel area of Redwood CityNext stop: a 10:00 AM meeting at my clients' house in Redwood City that will be coming on the market at the end of the month. We had paperwork to revise, another discussion about choosing the correct listing price, and I had my first chance to see the inside of the house. The sellers are correct: it is a tear down, but builders' should love the lot and location. I couldn't help but stop and take some pictures of the trees in the neighborhood. Who wouldn't enjoy living here, with beautiful Our Lady of Mt. Carmel school across the street, and street trees in the area like this one?

By 11:30 I was out on brokers' tour, visiting 3 properties that might work for one of my potential buyers and are of interest to other clients due to their location.

With my gas gauge on empty (both mine and the car's) it was time to fill the car, and buy a bagel sandwich I could eat in the car on the drive back to San Francisco while I fielded phone calls -- thank you Bluetooth!

Finally, at my computer mid-afternoon, documents were sent to an agent requesting them, a bit of bookkeeping was handled and then --- time for a nap!

Before fully waking up, I was aware of my mind wandering, and in my brain I was hearing a beautiful Beethoven sonata.

Which made me realize that in addition to the visual beauty of our area, I'm thankful for the gift of music.

And now, to cap off the day -- a walk to the top of Nob Hill to practice yoga with strains of Beethoven still in my mind.

Lottie Kendall Wow, up at 4:30 and hiking, my, my, that's very impressive. My go-to music for inspiration lately has been Stephen Stills and Judy Collins' new CD Everybody Knows, which I sing at the top of my lungs while driving down the freeway.

But I can also see how Beethoven can put you in the mood.

Well I might be up at 4:30 once in a while, but it's "still up" and not "getting up".  Reading your post both me "run out of gas" and crave a bagel.  I know what I'll be having for breakfast at about 10 am.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents - getting up at 4:30 is NOT my intent, just a by-product of poor sleep. Leaving home at 6:30 to meet a friend for a hike IS intentional--gets my whole day started well.

With your love of music, Joe Pryor , you probably also wake with melodies running through your head. I love when that happens.
