My California Dream
I am the one sitting on the floor in the middle !
Houston & The Move To California
As a young girl, I spent my formative years growing up in Houston. The people were wonderful but the weather was hot and muggy....and then there was Hurricane Carla. When my dad told me that he was being transferred to Southern California to open a new sales territory, I couldn't be happier! Land of the Beach Boys, Hollywood and Disneyland!
We spent many weekends looking for homes. I was the oldest of five children, so I helped my mom with everything she needed. I did get to help house hunt and I think this is where my love of real estate got it's roots. My father was a natural born salesperson and I learned a lot through osmosis. I would get to go on short business trips with him which I really appreciated.
This home was to be our final home before we moved to the beach after my boys left home. (Little did we know that Sedona was calling us!)
My parents moved to Louisville KY because my dad was promoted to Vice-President of Sales of UMA in 1979 so I became the acting Matriarch for all the holidays, birthdays and other celebrations. Our home was always so very small to accomodate the whole clan. So as we continued to get bigger homes, my "wish list" continued to refine!
The most important thing was that it had to accommodate the "Moran Clan". We had a growing family with babies, nieces and nephews. We just ran out of room at the other houses. This would be our fifth home ahd we were going to make it right! By This time, my mom had passed and I was now "mom" to all... As matriarch, everything was celebrated at my home and I wanted a home that would work for all of us.
My California Dream Home
Our wish list included: Views, 4 or 5 bedrooms, large backyard and most importantly a 4 car garage. It also had to be somewhere close to work. My husband worked at Ontario Airport. 1998 - California traffic was already terrible, so this was a major consideration. Most of our family lives in Orange County so that also had to fit in to the mix. I was blessed that our wish list was answered.
Pulte Homes & Corona Ranch
We found the perfect home design and had it built on a lot we chose. Fortunately we had the vision to see the potential for our family.
Construction on a pool started immediately. We wanted it finished by Super Bowl Sunday! We moved in Halloween and this had to happen.
...and it was completely full of water and usable on Super Bowl Sunday 1999!
We always heated the pool on Xmas day and it got a lot of use. We designed the backyard to accommodate the family. We had a fire pit, a BBQ area, and a putting green with a real sand trap! Inside, one of the rooms had a pool table and another had a large screen TV that the kids could play video games.
Again, being the oldest of five children, all of us have families. So the days we get together are so very special. We were grateful and very thankful that we could provide this home for our entire family to enjoy with us.
Why I Am Thankful For This Home...
Just about every month in the 8 years we lived here full time, there was a celebration and family gathered here. This home holds so many wonderful memories and I am thankful it was in our lives to enjoy.
Owning this home is probably why I am so passionate about helping others find their dream home.
Side note: When we finally listed this home, we took the pictures. This was our first attempt and it turned out extremely well.

To this day the "Moran Clan" continue to be close. It was tough on the entire family when we decided to move to Sedona. Now, we have to settle for telephone calls but we stay in touch.
