As we reflect on Thanksgiving and the things we are grateful for, I have to say how thankful I am to be in the real estate business and financially able to support myself and my family. 
I've lived through strong real estate markets and NOT-so-strong markets over the last 30 years. I've taken sabbaticals from real estate during the lean times, but am glad to be back in the business full-time and doing well.
I enjoy the flexibility of responding to email in my pajamas while drinking my coffee. It's wonderful not having to punch a clock or have someone looking over your shoulder. Real estate agents are independent contractors, so if we don't work, we don't get paid.
Realtors must be disciplined and self-motivated. I'm not saying the job is easy. There are challenges with every career, but I enjoy what I do for a living and love to help buyers and sellers with their real estate needs.
I'm thankful I can do what I love and enjoy the freedom and flexibility of being self-employed while still providing for my needs.
