We are all writing about the things we are most thankful for and, not surprisingly, most of the things mentioned are what you would expect....family, health, home, job, etc.
One of the things that I'm very thankful for is Skype.
Skype may not be something you would consider as a "blessing"....more of a technological convenience in our web obsessed lives. However in my family Skype has more of an emotional attachment.
My parents are snowbirds. They spend the majority of the year in Florida, safely tucked away from the cold, snow and ice during the winter months. As much as my mom loves the weather in Florida, she desperately misses her family here in New Hampshire.
Whenever I have any of the grandbabies at my house I pull out the iPad and Skype allows mom and dad to visit with them.
Whenever there is a family party or holiday event we find time to include my parents via Skype.
It's not the same as being there, but it's the next best thing.
One of my favorite Skype moments was my granddaughter, Jacinda, taking Nana for a ride in her new shopping cart she got for Christmas.
Nana has had a few shopping cart rides with Jacinda,
and she loves every minute of it!
