Thankfulness (DAY 6) - THE Best Clients a Realtor® Could Wish For
You know, if you think about it, most of us began in this business by helping someone that one of our friends knew, buy or sell a home. And, if we were really lucky, it was a double - they were selling and also buying in the area!
That is, indeed, how I began in the business and that is how I have continued over the years! Best friends referred their friends, who later referred their friends, family and co-workers and the trend has continued.
I will say that during the recession, my friends, their friends, family and co-workers and everyone I knew was sitting tight - no one knew anyone who needed my assistance - at least, it was the rare few who did! I had one agent who referred her family to me and I think that first year during the recession, I sold 7 homes to her family...AND, she didn't want a referral fee! She just wanted someone to take good care of her family and she knew that I would!
During that time, I met more strangers that I had in my entire life! I took every course I could on short sales and studied them night and day so that I could help those who needed to short sell their homes. I built and beefed up a website and began being gleeful to meet perfect strangers (safely, of course) to begin our home buying and selling relationships! Those people joined the ranks of my wonderful clients and the trend of referring to me began a 'second round' with them.
In 2012, my original sphere was ready to MOVE! They had been ready to move for years but, wouldn't dare take the plunge. That, coupled with continued referrals and web leads I was generating, had me going in a million directions!
During the last 5 years, my team has grown to 5...and I'm holding there! My 'team' is not like any other that I know but, because we all just morphed together so well for various reasons. Everyone has specific tasks geared to client care but, I am the one who works with each and every client. It works for us and together, we love striving to provide the best customer service in the business!
The thing that keeps me going in this business IS the people - those who I am surrounded with each and every day - my clients. They are so wonderful to me - they put their trust in me and we work so well together - in fact, very rarely do I have a 'cantankerous' client!
Then they share their trust in me with their friends, family & co-workers - and honestly, it's the RARE occasion that I have to 'beat the bushes' and ASK if they know of anyone who needs my help. They just shoot me a text, "Jane Smith, our neighbor, is going to sell and wants to move to your area. She'll be giving you a call this week."
*This was a Facebook post that I could not get to embed so, I took a snapshot of it. I love friends of theirs commenting on their post as well!
EACH AND EVERY time that happens, it feels like the first time - I'm honored, humbled and ever so grateful for my amazing clients. Sharing their trust in me with their loved ones, friends and co-workers is a BIG DEAL to me and I will always be thankful for that relationship...each and every one of them.
So, this Thanksgiving, I am ever-so thankful for my wonderful, thoughtful clients!
And, thank you, Debbie Reynolds, for your Thanksgiving challenge!
