The Saturday before Thanksgiving: I am so thankful for...
Well here we are, the Saturday before Thanksgiving: I am so grateful that most of my shopping is done. The Turkey and the pies have been ordered, now I will just have to coordinate their pickup. Next, I will have to do inventory and see what are the critical, aka what are the missing items for the “Feast” that still need to be acquired.
Over the years I have learned (yes, the hard way), that just like anything else, it takes proper planning and years of experience to make a successful Traditional Thanksgiving Meal. It reminds me of Real Estate there is a great deal of preparation that is involved and the more seasoned we get the more seamless the experience becomes.
It does not matter if only one person comes over or six or eight, one thing is sure, there will be enough to eat for all. The only difference is how many place settings you will need to have on the table😊. Just like in real estate, it does not matter if you are negotiating three or four transactions and have two or more in Escrow, the principles are the same: there are a lot of moving parts and it must come across seamless to provide a great experience and results.
The traditional meal must have a generous quality to it and it must be seamless in the preparation as well as it must have an efficient execution to deliver the finished meal. There are a lot of moving parts to make it a successful Thanksgiving Feast and little room for error.
I am not sure how to describe it, for me Thanksgiving presents great rewards. Those of course are the memories it conjures up with the smells as the food cooking and the fun to reminisce about those memories. Watching Diane’s face and reaction to the meal and who ever happens to join us for Thanksgiving is important. To me it is probably the most important Holiday, because of these memories which it conjures up and that is what I am most grateful about.
We get invited, year after year by our friends and I always try to turn them down, because I prefer to create the meal and be to host rather than the guest.
What does Thanksgiving conjure up for you?
