So Thankful Our New Granddaughter is OK
The 4th, and newest grandbaby, arrived 2 weeks ago today while I was in Chicago, but hanging out at the airport and heading home. All went well and as expected, and Mom and baby Sage came home 24 hours later.
Dad and big sister came down with colds early last week, and unfortunately Sage developed a fever this past Thursday evening. My daughter was concerned, and rightly so, that there was a fever of over 100, and after talking with the doctor very late that night took her baby to the ER. ER was also concerned about a baby this young having a fever and so they admitted her and Mom in the middle of the night, which meant a transport via ambulance to a Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Hollywood 30 minutes away that had a pediatric unit.
We changed our plans for the weekend and went up as soon as we were able to get away on Friday to Los Angeles to help in any way we could.
All sorts of tests were run, including a spinal tap (not something you want to witness a kid going through I understand) and fortunately all has been negative. But you sure hate to see all these antibiotics being given to a baby so young!
Our daughter and her baby were discharged this evening and are back home. We are so very thankful all seems to be OK and the fever disappeared (it seems to have been part of the cold symptoms). And of course very thankful we could be there to help with our other granddaughter. And thankful, too, for all that the hospital did to provide reassurance, care, and testing. A scary time, but thankfully with a positive ending.
Sorry about the lack of photos, but the parents are pretty private and are not quite ready to share photos. I respect that!!
