Countdown to Thanksgiving - newsletters still generate calls

By

Today I woke feeling thankful for my early morning hike buddy and the morning hike we had in store; for my car that would safely get me to our trail head; for another great friend and client who often meets for breakfast after my hikes.

While I breakfasted, the phone rang. 10 minutes later my meeting broke up so I listened to the voice mail and then called back promptly,

"...my name is Judy, my cell phone is xxx-xxx-xxxx..... I'm calling in regard to my mom's house...we're not ready to sell now but will be in the future....would like an opinion on what we should do to get the house ready, and of course a price estimate....."

It turns out she and I both had time to meet and for me to tour the house this morning. She's wowed by my quick response; I'm wowed to know once again that printed newsletters, sent regularly, still make the phone ring.

old-fashioned paper newsletters

During the course of our conversation I learned that she called me due to these newsletters, which aren't sophisticated at all, but easy to read, a mix of general interest things and real estate, including market stats and activity level in the area. I'll be keeping in touch with her, giving her the information she requested....and more.

Today I'm especially thankful that old-fashioned paper newsletters are still a viable way of reaching sellers.

Newsletters old paper style and email most touch people in a unique way. I like them too.

Lottie your post is a very motivating! This is a great lesson - never underestimate the power of a good newsletter, especially ones that are consistently sent illustrating your knowledge and expertise. Just because someone isn't ringing your phone immediately, it doesn't mean they aren't planning to call you, and you never know when that phone will ring!

You had a great morning and even though it was a surprise, you were still well prepared. Way to go, Lottie!!!

Good evening Lottie Kendall,

Old fashion newsletters and print material do bring in calls. People are off work and have time to make calls or emails. My calendars are being delivered to my niche market and sphere of influence..already had 5 calls!

Newsletters sent out on a consistent basis, still work wonders. Most agents do not have the patience which is unfortunate for them but good for you. Just keep on mailing!

Hi Jeffrey Masich/ Associate Broker, MBA - I send my newsletter via snail mail to about 500 people; another 150 or so get the email version. 11 months a year these go out; in early December a Christmas card takes the place of the newsletter.

Hi Patricia Feager - that phone call was a welcomed one this morning; a new contact and future seller.

Dorie Dillard - you've gotten a great response to your calendar mailing; about how many do you send out?

Hi Eva B. Liland with Century 21 Doug Anderson - I've been mailing these out for probably 15 years; it's a part of me. I realize about a 5:1 payback each year, the best I can figure.

Lotte,

In my opinion, nothing is old-fashioned as long as it works...and you have proven that.  A
