Talk With a Legal Immigrant Like I Did

Recently. I have noticed in one of the three Toastmaster clubs I am a member of in Phoenix, Arizona about half of the members are from some other country,

Last week I invited one of those members to our home for dinner, as I had offered to mentor him, in his initial startup in Toastmasters.

It was interesting and educational to listen to him.

He is 34 years of age and came here 15 years ago. He has a green card.

He has a wife and two small boys.

After listening to Dharm, there are people from other countries who have far more knowledge how our Congress and Senate make the laws for bringing people in to the United States.

I learned so much I did not know about immigration and how The United States.

Without listening to FOX or CNN I begin to learn the truth and how our country has, or maybe I should say how our elected officials have been running things, or should I say ruining things, for us in our homeland.

Another thing that is interesting about these LEGAL immigrants, for the most part they have more determination, drive, intention, commitment than most of us who were fortunate to be born here in the USA.

Such an awesome learning experience being with Dharm for a couple of hours.

Imagine! Out of over 500,000 Toastmasters worldwide; I can mentor Dharm thru his initial portion of Toastmasters.

Helping others is what I was put here on this earth for.

Whether is it owning a home, selling a home, or mentoring people to improve their communication and leadership skills. It is heartwarming.

By the way Dharm works with computers, and here in the USA he earns $75000 to $95000

Where he came from Nepal, the income was either $4000 or $00 per year.

Dan- I agree with you. Imagine how much we could learn if we took the time to speak with others, especially those from other countries. We could learn about how others see us and we might walk away with an appreciation for where we live.
