The 59th Annual Turkey Bowl is in the books

First of all I must be getting old and forgetful. I had posted that we were about to do the 49th Turkey Bowl and I forgot about ten years. We started when we were 10 and we are all about to hit 70 so maybe I should have used one of those techie devices called a calculator. That being cleared up it was a glorious morning just about to hit 50, a perfect football morning. The warm up was somewhat brief since some of my childhood friends have not been eating and exercising as much as they should and no heart attacks are allowed during the game. The best news is no one was hurt badly. A few bruises maybe and I came down hard after a great interception, if i do say so myself, so my thumb is swelling just a bit. The best part of the game is the conversation afterwords as we shared memories and who was working still and who was retiring. We also said a silent prayer for Ron English who couldn't make the game this year since we lost him since last November. We miss Ronnie and he was one of the good guys. So next year it is on to the 60th annual Turkey Bowl and maybe ESPN or Sports Illustrated will want to cover us. Probably not but a guy can dream can't he? Now on to the afternoon Turkey Bowl which will be a bowl containing turkey. Hard to get hurt at that one! Until next time may your Thanksgiving dinner be free of politics and anger, full of laughter, and hopefully a peaceful nap and a wish for a peaceful world.

Joe,

Love your last sentence!  Our dinner is much later, we are looking forward to being with the family and enjoying the news.  What is wonderful about the group old and young, is that no one spends time on the phone.  A

I saw a cartoon a couple days ago that reminded me of your statement about having a Thanksgiving free of politics and anger.  Here it is.
