Highlands Ranch has no shortage of community and local events as the weeks go on. There will be a a great educational event for kids of ages 3 or older who have an interest in birds of prey. This Raptors of the Rockies event will be a way for all the children ages 3 and older to get up close to the most common birds of prey in the Rocky Mountain region. The professional handlers will explain how the bird hunts, lives, eats and sleeps. They will go over their daily habits, and their life cycle. You will get to see them up close and personal. The three birds in attendance will be a hawk, a falcon and an owl. There are many adaptations a bird of prey must have to survive in an ever increasingly dangerous world. To learn about their struggles and how they have become new alpha predators in their environment while everything changes around them.
The reason for events like this is to educate youngsters on respecting animals like this, how habitat preservation is an important thing to consider, how wildlife conservation should be considered as well. It is important to have young children who are galvanized bit his type of material see it in person and so there will be instilling of certain values from a young age. This leads to the next generation of bird handlers, teachers and Wilde conservationists. We do need goals like this as a human species, since so many ecosystems have become increasingly fragile as of late.
