When I want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life in the Greater Sacramento region, I often enjoy a visit to Old Fair Oaks Village. The Village is approximately 5 miles from my home. I had a few extra moments in the midst of several tasks today, and took an opportunity to visit Old Fair Oaks Village Park. It is well known to locals that chickens rule the roost in the village. They are everywhere, not only in the park, but on the streets and in front of the shops. They often stop traffic while they stare down motorists, like a toreador confronting an obstinate bull.
During today's visit, workman were putting finishing touches on the Christmas tree. This link provides a little history about the origins of The Village Chickens. Pictures follow!
I take pictures for the purpose of remembering fond times. I do not impose copyright restrictions on this photo, so you may feel free to use, or distribute as you wish.
