When you try to figure out when and where things in America began to go awry...WHERE DO YOU START...???
I recall, back in 7th grade (over 60 years ago), being part of our school’s SAFETY PATROL...Of course, back in those days nearly everyone walked to school...
I THINK NOW...WOW...Our school must have had a lot of confidence and trust in us to endow us with the RESPONSIBILITY that safety patrol duty entails...!!!
NEVERTHELESS, it seems since that time more and more RESPONSIBILITIES have been assumed or taken back by adult authorities, school administrators, and various government branches thus denying many YOUNG ADULTS from developing PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY...!!!
AND IF YOU DON’T LEARN IT IN SCHOOL, have you missed the boat on learning it in the workplace or real world...???
Back to my 7th grade story...I recall a few students being dismissed from their safety patrol duties for various reasons from ‘not showing up on time’ to ‘blatant disregard for traffic and/or safety rules’...
NO ONE GOT ‘FIRED FROM LIFE’, it was a great ‘basic training’ opportunity to learn RESPONSIBILITY and EARN TRUST...AND.......learn at an early age that there may be consequences for negligence...!!!
There is no moral to this story, just reflections on how this SHIP OF LIFE may have drifted off course...I’m sure you can think of many similar tales...take some time to think about it...!!!
