My best kitchen articles for 2017

By
Home Builder with The Flooring Girl

This year, I've written a bunch of kitchen articles.  After all, it is the heart of the home.  I've broadened my horizons a bit to go beyond just the floors.  I thought you might enjoy some of them.

My latest one is Should you upgrade your kitchen if you're selling your home?  and it's actually on one of Anita Clark's sites. This article shares where it does and it doesn't make sense to spend (i.e. where you will get the best return for your money.

As I worked for a painting company, I had some first hand knowledge about how to paint kitchen cabinets.  There is so much wrong info on the internet on how to painting kitchen cabinets, and the best types of paint, but most of them are misleading, so I figured I should set the record straight, regardless of whether you hire a professional or do-it-yourself.

I was also curious to learn more about farmhouse sinks and why they've become so popular.  Well it turns out that they have some ergonomic benefits in addition to their stylish looks.

And, of course, I had to write about floors (and make it different than my previous articles), so I wrote about the Best types of flooring for the kitchen.  And, in this article I discuss the top 9 options for kitchen flooring with pros and cons for each.

So those are my best kitchen articles from this year.  I should probably do some more round up posts like this, especially since most of these articles are on my own site, and you may have missed some of them.

No doubt about it, kitchens are core to helping a home get sold quickly. All 4 articles are excellent...well done, Debbie.  Thanks for the link too. ;-)

Hi Debbie: Maybe you should add 3 more things and make it an even 10 on that first article on Anita's site? Or maybe I should just shut my trap and write my own piece on kitchen upgrades for home selling, LOL.

Also, I tried to leave Anita a comment but Disqus wouldn't load.

Great articles, though. Now I have to read the one about farmhouse sinks.

My grandfather's tools, from the early 1900s, are very ergonomic.  Some tools are just getting around to understanding that.  I'm not surprised farmhouse sinks are ergonomic, though I have never thought about it.

Oh, I have found that hardwood in kitchens dents and stains, no matter what you do.  And tiles do crack, even with extra subflooring.  But I would take tile over anything.  With a nice pad near the sink.

Jay Markanich no floor is perfect.  For kitchens, site finished is way better than prefinished - more protection between the planks and shows stuff less.  But, yes, I agree, those rubber mats are the BEST.
