Your Thoughts..Is This Spam ?

When I first started being recruited by other brokers I felt it was a compliment.  Now, after years of emails, calls and texts, many from the same actors, I feel it is more like spam than a compliment:

We all know many of the signs and are aware of spam and robocalls. We recognize the ‘you’ve won a zillion dollars '' emails, the phony Microsoft phone calls, the "you’ve been sent a HUD attachment," and  “ your wiring instructions have changed."

Spam to me is unwanted calls, unwanted emails or any other unwanted communication.

It is pretty easy to delete an email, ignore a text, block a call and throw away a piece of snail mail.

SPAM

But how do you deal with another company whose main goal is to recruit you?

They have been well-trained. In the beginning it may be an invitation to a seminar or  'I have really missed you let's get together for lunch.'

But then the emails and phone calls follow, usually from various agents from the organization. These are people you know, done deals with and they show your properties. So when you see their number you are assuming  they want to talk about one of your listings.

But they really want to tell you about all the benefits of changing companies and how much more you can make. When they realize I'm a solo broker, they ask "what is your exit strategy?"

They have great scripts, they bring you into a conversation. By the time you realize their motive and gently say no thank you...it starts to get a bit uncomfortable.

Our own industry is now doing to us what we fought so hard to get rid of...just another type of spam.

Your thoughts?

Good morning Gabe. I understand. Some times it is simply a numbers game and to me that is spam.

Well, I have always treated it as spam and when they call, I kindly tell them that I am very happy where I am.

Good morning, Gabe!

If I am happy where I am, then why would I even consider moving to another firm?  Some just cannot accept a "No" answer.  Is this how they go after sellers and buyers?  No wonder we are considered the car salespeople of the real estate world.

The robocalls are out of control . . . . no one is paying attention to the do not call list.

Good luck and success.

I guess these are the brokerages that have the incentive program when if you bring an agent you get a percentage of their split, so it becomes tempting as all you need is getting 10 active agents, and now you get the money, and do little.
