Knowledge is the Power for Your Freedom to a Worry Free Home!

There are two outside hose faucet's that can present you a potential cross-connection problem. The through the outside wall faucet and any yard faucet's there may be.

Lots of folk's well use the outside faucet to spray their insecticides and to fertilizers on their lawn. A cross-connection from one of these faucet with out any kind of back-flow prevent er, can end up affecting more than a single home in an area.

Just about any town or city has a horror storie concerning some kind of cross-connection that has happen.

Town and city building inspectors are supposed to make sure that through the wall faucet's have built in vacuum breaker systems when new construction occurs. The only thing is, this requirement is not always enforced.

Dale - I must have missed your blog; you have a great series going here on faucets, hoses and cross contamination. You are right about some of the consequences that can happen, not only to a single dwelling but can affect several.

As always, thank you for giving us a heads up and reminders to be more careful, All the more reason to get that home inspected.

Fortunately, a good home inspector like Dale can identify the problem and advise you on how to repair it. Sometimes it's helpful to have your home inspected even if you have no intention of selling just so you can address all those little maintenance issues and prevent further damage.
