Why would you reblog a post? I learned a lot from this - there are so many benefits to you, the reader, and to the original poster - as well as me!
Thank you, Kathy, for a very informative article!

Why in the World Would You Want to Reblog a Post? And How to Do It!

There have been many times when I would have missed out on an interesting post or information about a challenge or contest had it blog reblognot been for another member’s reblog.

Do you have any idea how many posts scroll through the blogroll in a day? I don’t but I can tell you it’s just about impossible to read each one of them unless that was your job.

Every Sunday I attempt to highlight posts that have made the lightbulb over my head click on. And though I try to read as many as I can, there are still many that I miss.

So why Reblog a post?

~It’s a good way of sharing with the other members a post that you feel could use more exposure.

~It’s a nice way to introduce a new member and their post to others.

~It’s really needed to help get information out to members, such as a new contest or challenge for the month, or to help another member who needs assistance.

~And, last but not least you do receive 25 points for a reblog (one per day) and you do receive points for comments made on your reblogged post as well.

How to do this?

First of all, you can only reblog a post if:

~The member is a Rainmaker.

~The member gives you permission to do so as indicated by the box they check when they submit and publish their post.

Next, scroll down towards the bottom of the post and you’ll see on the same line where you can “like” a post, the ability to reblog it.

When you check the “reblog” icon, your screen opens to what looks like the ActiveRain editor. (which it is.)

There is a blank area for you to write an introduction (just as you always do) and if you scroll down even further, you will see the post that you want to reblog.

You will be able to place your reblog in up to 5 Groups (just like any other post) and give it a tag if you want.

Now here you also have a choice enable or disable comments on your reblog/post.

This is your choice. Some choose not to and ask that you comment on the original blogger’s post. And some enable comments as a way of engaging with members (and you do get points for comments made on your post)

blogging Now, let’s get back to the introduction. I have seen some reblogs where the member hits the reblog button, and that’s it.

No introduction. Of course, it’s always your choice but to omit some kind of intro would be like taking a new neighbor to a party, walking them to the door, going in with them, then walking away.

Look at recent reblogs done by Barbara Todaro, Debbie Reynolds, and Debe Maxwell. You can write one sentence or a short paragraph.

In fact, I’ve seen reblogs that were as long as the post itself.

Reblogging is another way of interacting and communicating with other members.

If you haven’t reblogged a post, give it a try!

It's been a while since I reblogged a post, but it can be a great way to add good content to your own blog and compliment the original writer as well.

I don't re-blog as many as I could, because there are so many great articles posted. And there is no way we could read every single post that hits the AR chart. It would be impossible!
