Thanks Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD .  I agree, there is nothing better than a freshly cut real Christmas Tree.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

If you live in the Pacific Northwest, chances are you’ve used real Christmas trees in your home. Real Christmas trees are a renewable, recyclable resource and can represent a better option than artificial trees. Artificial trees contain non-biodegradable plastics and possible metal toxins, such as lead.

Regardless, of which real Christmas tree you choose, keep in mind you’re not “killing a tree.” Instead, you’re taking advantage of one of our area’s great resources. Real Christmas trees represent a green and renewable industry in both Oregon and Washington ( The Evergreen State).

A Noble or Nordmann?

We're getting our trees this week for our Multi-gen home in Camas. It's always an exciting adventure for us. Searching for the perfect specimen is subjective. While we prefer narrow, tall trees, others prefer full-shaped trees.  We also have a lot of varieties to choose from in the Pacific Northwest.  These are the most common choices.

  • Grand Fir -
  • Douglas Fir -
  • Noble -
  • Nordmann-
  • Frasier -
  • Scotch Pine -

We normally choose either a Noble or a Nordmann. Both trees have sturdy branches capable of holding a variety of ornaments. The Noble is the most popular in the northwest and tends to retain its needles longer than the Grand or Douglas fir trees.

Nordmann firs are a relatively new tree to the U.S. They are similar to Nobles, but most growers agree Nordmanns have the best needle retention of all other trees. It's become our personal favorite.

We'll share a photo once we find this year's perfect tree!

ViewHomes™ grew out of our passion for nature, beautiful surroundings, and peaceful environments. Starting together in an urban environment, over the years we've gravitated towards areas with smaller populations and less density. We now enjoy our lifestyle in a rural environment, but with close proximity to metropolitan areas where we appreciate all the amenities of fine restaurants, shopping, and an easy drive to an international airport.
Living in ViewHomes™ is like having “elbowroom for the soul”.

I enjoy real Christmas trees. My son Spencer feels complelled to come over to my house and decorate them with his musky lures everywhere. Its the only Christmas tree that will snd you to an emergency room if you fall into it, and it is no fun having an ER doctor taking a treble hook out of your cheek my friend. Not all all. See you soon.
