Christmas in Occupied Clarksville TN- 2017

Christmas in Occupied ClarksvilleA favorite is returning again this year at Fort. Defiance. A historic Christmas Celebration is taking place on Sunday, December 10th from 3-6pm. This is an opportunity to see the way Christmas was celebrated during the Civil War with Clarksville was occupied by the Union Army.  Fort Defiance Civil War and Interpretive Center is a treasure of an experience in learning and this fun event brings people back each year.

There will be refreshments of eggnog and cakes, Christmas carols, period Christmas costumes and decorated trees and even a Santa from the Civil War Period. This is a family-friendly event and all ages will enjoy.

The Fort Defiance Civil War and Interpretive Center is open year-round with so much to discover about Clarksville's history and the part it played during the war. It is positioned on a bluff overlooking the Cumberland River.  What's interesting is that the Fort was occupied by both Union and Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. You can learn about life as it was for the soldiers and the people of Clarksville during this period of time.

Christmas in Occupied Clarksville 2017 is FREE and open to the public. For further information about the event contact Fort Defiance, 120 Duncan St. Clarksville, TN or call 931-472-3351.

We have that kind of celebration in Guthrie Oklahoma, the former territorial capitol of our state. They do every year The Territorial Christmas Carol that takes Dickens to 19th century Oklahoma. Towns people walk around in period dress. It's a great thing to do.
