What is consistency?

Being consistent is something that is discussed often, especially here with regards to our marketing efforts. Barbara Todaro, a constant source of marketing information as well as support, suggests we “market like we meanbeing consistent it” and part of that involves being consistent.

When I meet new agents here I tell them to head to ActiveRain, join, and begin reading. Then I give them the link to Barbara’s blog to learn about marketing.

The other day Michael Jacobs wrote a post about his consistency with this thing we have called blogging.

Some blog every day to maintain their consistency. Others have a schedule that they follow. Marketing reports on one day, listings on another. Local color posts another day.

As I was reading Michael’s post, I thought to myself that consistency doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to blog every day.  It is something you choose to do as part of your marketing strategy.

But there are other ways we show our consistency that will matter to our clients, peers, and others.

Consistency of message

Are you sending mixed messages via your various marketing efforts? Does your printed message via ads and postcards match your cyber message?

Consistency of Brand

Is your branding message consistent with the goals of your business and what you want to say?

Ron and Alexandra Seigel show in their posts the importance of our branding and the message we are conveying.

Consistency of Deeds?

Do you have a business plan that spells out the actions you will take so that your actions are consistent?

Consistency in Treatment of Others

I’ve met some people who are jerks but one thing I’ll say about them is that they treat everyone the same. And of course, there are people I’ve met who are kind to everyone no matter who they are or how much money they have or don’t have.

What they had in common? You could count on them to treat everyone the same.

BTW-Being consistent is a lot easier to do if you stay true to who you are.
