Hot Kitchen Design Trends for 2017
Let’s look back on some of the kitchen design trends that we have seen come on strong in the past year and expect to see continuing in 2018.
Kitchen Design Trend #1: Contrasting Islands
One of the most common kitchen trends that continued in 2017 was contrasting islands. No more monotonous kitchens here in Charlotte! We are seeing homeowners bringing even more flair into the kitchen by pairing complementing colors, including the ‘furniture’ look in the kitchen island.
Kitchen Design Trend #2: Farm Sinks
From copper to stainless and everything in between, farm sinks - one sided or two sided - are all the rage in newly built homes and remodeled kitchens in Charlotte this year. The functionality is an added bonus with the popular farm sinks - large pasta pots fit effortlessly in the farm sink and the larger space makes cleaning and filling a breeze. This trend has gained in popularity with the bungalow style homes in Charlotte’s historic communities as well as the new construction homes throughout the city.
Kitchen Design Trend #3: Glass-front Cabinets
This has been an ongoing trend that is now highlighted with special lighting, especially in the top portion of the cabinets. From corner cabinets to full cabinets or covering the top ‘shelf’ of the cabinets, these glass-front (and lit) cabinets are a great way to showcase special pieces. Lighting the glass front cabinets is often partnered with the under- and over-cabinet lighting, making for a spectacular ‘statement’ when entertaining or used alone to set a cozy ambiance every day.
2017 was quite the year for spectacular kitchens in Charlotte. These are just the top 3 trends we saw either continue or strengthen in popularity this year. Have you added any of these trends into your own kitchen this year?
