Five Swans a Swimming on Lake Quinsigamond
The cold weather is here, which means we rowers have to turn to off-water training. While working out recently, I looked out to the lake and saw this beautiful group of swans paddling around. Every now and then, one of them would stop to dive (supposedly for a fish), and then promptly regain its place in the lineup. The water fowl have the run of the lake now that the boaters are gone.
The news last night showed "surfers" in Lake Michigan with wet suits claiming this was the best time of year here for this sport....it made my teeth chatter...have to feel the same way about the swan's feet !
Oh brrr - there is no way I'd get in, or on, the water this time of year!
