Hosting House Warming Parties

By
Real Estate Agent

The busy season is quickly approaching and being that I am still in my first full year of Real Estate, I'm trying to think of ways to drum up some extra business.  I've read about a number of agents who hold House Warming Parties for their clients after the closing (I'm guessing about a month later - after they've settled in) - I think this is a great idea to meet people. Since your clients are letting you host their House Warming party, I can only assume that they are happy with your services, so they'll be telling their friends about you.  So I'm looking for ideas from those of you who have done this before.

How many people do you recommend they invite? I'm thinking 15-20.  Do you have it catered, or do you usually just do finger sandwiches, snack items, drinks, etc.?  Obviously, I'd handle all the serving and the "hostess" business so that the clients can spend time with their friends and family. Afterwards, I'm going to do the clean up for my client as well.

How do you follow up with the guests after the party, or do you?  I'm thinking a thank you note saying "Thanks for attending so-n-sos House Warming Party.  It was great meeting you.  Should you need the services of a Realtor please don't hesitate to give me a call." or something like that.

Any ideas, suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated! :)

Look up Michael Maher, he's a Star agent (in the terms of the Howard Brinton network, www.gostarpower.com).  The man has totally harnessed the power of the housewarming party and gets a ton of business from it.  No sense reinventing the wheel-and he's glad to share. =)
