One minute national housing market video update from RE/MAX for December 2017 using November 2017 housing data based on 54 metro areas around the country.

 

  • Home sales up 1.1% versus one year ago
  • Median price of homes sold up 3.7% year over year to $227,500
  • Average days on market were down by 5 days to 54 days as compared with one year ago
  • Number of homes for sale down 14.5% 

 

No doubt that home buyer demand remains strong and that in many areas it's a seller's market, pure and simple. There just are not enough sellers listing their homes, despite rising prices. But keep in mind that real estate is very local, if not hyper-local... so be sure to have a discussion about your specific market conditions with your real estate professional.

Joan Cox ~ hi Joan... I think there are really very few areas where DOM are much below 30-40 days and even then, I suspect it's in very specific neighborhoods or price ranges.

Hello Nina: My buyers' agents are screaming for inventory. We are working with buyers eager to buy this month but there is "nothing but crap" for sale, according to them. It can be very frustrating for buyers who don't understand the market nor why they need to act very quickly to grab what they want.
