In all of the hustle and bustle of this wonderful holiday time (mine is Christmas) it seems as if we are all too busy to realize the true important things of the season(including myself). I have to admit; it is ALWAYS exciting to receive presents even though this is not the true reason for the season! It is even much more fun to go out and find the perfect gift(s) for all of our loved ones and then watch their faces as they carefully unwrap their present. All of this gifting frenzy lasts all of maybe an hour ripping the bows and papers off of the once beautifully wrapped presents. So now, I have spent more than I should (I seem to have a hard time doing Christmas in moderation) and the 'perfect' hand picked gifts will all probably be forgotten in five years! So, I ask myself, why. Why do I do this. I have mulled this question around in my head over and over for quite some time now and I finally have an answer. I do it for...ME! I love being 'SANTA'! Bearing gifts and serving Christmas dinner to all of my family and friends. These are a few of my favorite things.
My number one priority for Christmas this year...One little boy in my family never really seems to enjoy his Christmas as much as the other young children; so, I made it my priority to make him smile this year. He opened his gift very slowly with an expressionless face. Finally getting all of the wrapping paper from the present, he broke out into a smile. And what a big smile it was! There! Mission accomplished. Finally! Oh, the little things that make me smile!
