A Cookie Exchange PLUS a Recipe

By
Real Estate Agent with Front Gate Real Estate Broker 11085

A couple of years ago, I helped organize a cookie exchange. It was a lot of fun, although baking is not one of my specialties. Getting together with friends for a little "holiday cheer" made it all worthwhile.

We are having a cookie swap at work. I asked around for "quick and easy" recipes, and someone suggested  Rolo Pretzels.

Rolo Pretzel Candy by Pat Starnes

I wasn't familiar with them, but quickly found a recipe. It wasn't a cookie but who cares? So I ran to the store to get the three ingredients:

ROLO PRETZEL DELIGHTS

1 bag of small twisted pretzels

1 large bag or 2 small bags Rolos

Pecans or M&Ms for topping

Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Arrange the pretzels on the baking sheet, then top with unwrapped Rolos. Put in the oven for 3-4 minutes, just until the Rolos soften. Remove from oven, then top with a pecan or Christmas M&M.

The secret to making pretzel delights is to put them in the oven barely long enough for the Rolos to SOFTEN, NOT MELT

Cool overnight, then transfer to a covered container.

Quick AND Easy! My favorite kind of recipe.

If you don't like to bake or are pressed for time, this is an easy alternative.

See my original post about a cookie exchange.

Enjoy!

Pat,

How fun and thank you for sharing your recipe.  I know that Kathy Streib was baking like mad for her cookie exchange party.

Thank you! Ann Nguyen. It's the Christmas M&Ms that make them look so festive.

Grant Schneider - could be. Another Realtor had the same idea, but used a striped candy instead of Rolos... must play detective to find out what type of candy was used.

They are very easy, Myrl. Just make sure they have re-hardened. Takes a long time unless you pop in the freezer.

I've done that with using a pecan and not the m & m's   But that's cute and Christmasy.  I like it.

Baking is something I stopped doing a long time ago, but I must say I enjoy home-made cookies. These could be a nice, simple way to contribute a tasty treat.
