Look On the Bright Side Day is December 21st!
Now, this is my kind of day! Naturally, I have no idea of its origin but what does it matter?!
Just the other day, we were having a conversation at breakfast with some friends. I don’t even remember the topic but my thought was that since we would have no way of knowing the outcome of something, I chose to think that it all turned out well.
Whatever I thought would have no impact on the subject but could impact my day.
No, I’m not a (total) Pollyanna but while I try to be practical and logical in my thinking...when given a choice, I choose to Look on the Bright Side.
It’s a choice I make every day of my life. Admittedly, some days are harder than others, and some particular situations are downright difficult to keep that Bright Side lit up.
But what good does it do seek out and well in that place called Negativity?
Besides, being positive (looking on the bright side) is healthier for you psychologically and physically. Blood pressure stays down, depression can be kept at bay...all good things!
That said, it is well known that the holidays can be hard for many. As much as we like to think of our wonderful holiday memories, there are many who may be experiencing quite the opposite.
So if you can, try helping them look on the bright side this holiday. Give them a call, invite them to dinner or lunch. What about taking over some baked goods to them?
When a friend was going through a divorce during the holidays many years ago, we invited him to stay with us. He decorated his first Christmas tree with us and then we dragged him out to look at Christmas lights. Well, while he may not have been looking at the full 100-watt bright side of life, I think we were able to get him up to good 60 watts.
And on that note...I’ll leave you with several good notes...from Monty Python.
