It’s the Cocoa Beach Cool Down!

December was warmer than normal here on Cocoa Beach with unseasonably high temperatures some days but last week our weather finally started to cool down and we seeing more normal temperatures.

One of the things that appealed to me and my husband when we moved to Florida years ago was the fact that Cocoa Beach has three seasons. The change of seasons is far more subtle than up north and we look forward to each season. The humidity this time of year is lower, the wind comes more from the north than the south and we even see leaves fall from some of the trees.

Cocoa Beach weather forecast

This weekend a cold front is forecast to bring much cooler, drier air just in time for New Year's Day and the first week of the New Year. It's a nice change from the hot, humid sumer, a chance to wear our "winter" clothes  and to enjoy some of the comfort food that we look forward to this time of year.

We could all use a cool down like this one once in a while and some good recreation to boot! Thanks, Diana!

We enjoy the cooler weather...it feels more like the holidays than when it is 80*! The cooler temperatures are refreshing so it's perfect weather to enjoy some outdoor activities.

Happy New Year!

We have relatives up north so have been following the news about bone chilling temps and all the snow. After so many years here, I don't know how we ever lived through those cold, arctic winters! We are fine with just a little taste of your sub zero temps.

Happy New Year!

I love the change of seasons and the first couple years we lived here were a huge adjustment since the change of seasons is much more subtle. Now that we've adjusted to three seasons, I doubt we could go back to four.

Happy New Year!

WOW, even you guys are having cooler temperatures - we're breaking records every single day - it's the craziest winter I can remember here, Diana! We seldom see the teens but, have already seen them several times this year - and NO SNOW either! I think if it's going to be this cool, we deserve a little white, fluffy stuff!

We are going to be in the 50's and 30's for a couple days but will start to warm up by the weekend. No snow here on the beach, although there were a few places that saw flurries.

Debe, Our temps are down right cold! It's currently 38* but I think the wind died down at last. We are in for 2-3 more days of highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's, not sure if that is a record here. I thought I heard on the news that snow is possible in Charlotte so you may see some yet. Stay warm and safe!

Hi Diana

As I started to read this I thought that you are likely seeing much colder temps than even last week, with that nasty storm that's moving up the coast. Sounds particularly nasty further north.

Hi Jeff,

You are correct, the revised forecast is COLD until the weekend. We should start warming up on Saturday but, until then, our high is what should be our low this time of year (50s) and lows are in the 30s. But no snow here and those to the north of us have it much worse. And, belielve it or not, these cold snaps are good for the citrus!

I just heard on the news that even Key West is in the 50s for their high so the cold extends that far south of us.

I really look forward to the cooler weather. Not cold enough for gloves here but nice to wear boots and sweaters.

Hi Joyce,

Would you believe I don't own a pair of boots? You just reminded me to do some shoe shopping!

Our friends and relatives up north are laughing at what we consider "cold" weather since they are in single digits or sub-zero.
