With the increase in all-things-internet, I have had an accompanying increase in questions from Charlotte home sellers as to my take on attempting to sell their home themselves. "Of course, we'd use you to buy our next home but, we're thinking this might be a good way to save a little money."
I've written several articles about the reasons why you would NEVER want to sell your home alone but, the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) recently published their 2017 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers with some impressive data that should give you pause if you're thinking of going it alone. 1. Helped the client understand the process – 60%
If you are new to the home buying or selling process, an experienced real estate professional can explain exactly what to expect during the entire transaction so you aren’t caught off guard. With the increasingly complicated forms and Contracts, going it alone can be quite the 'can of worms' to open. There are over 80% more law suits with for-sale-by-owners than in transactions that have professionals representing both parties. That is one statistic that is eye-opening in and of itself.
2. Pointed out unnoticed features/faults with the property – 56%
Whether it’s pointing out possible uses for an extra bedroom/office, or using their trained eye to see potentially disastrous hazards that may be hiding out of site, your agent is there to protect your interests and make sure your home buying & selling experience is a good one.
