Welcome back to part IV of increasing the value of your home!

This blog talks about updating closets and optimizing your home office and mudroom.

Organizing your closets and mudroom definitely helps in keeping up the value of your home. My idea is to organize the closets not just before selling your home, but doing it early enough so you can take advantage of a pleasing view every day you wake up and start your day, plus you can find everything much easier :-)

We don’t all live in mansions with huge closets. Sure this walk-in closet I designed (below) doesn’t have the space for an island or big comfy chair, but good organization and pretty decor makes it a crowd pleaser... It has been saved nearly 300 times on Houzz in a very short time.

If you have a room that you changed into a home office, the closet can be organized to store office supplies and various binders and boxes. It will look attractive every time you walk into the room. When the house is ready to go on the market, the space can be transformed back into a closet, by switching some of the shelves with bars for hangers, and using the existing drawers for clothing. Take a look below how organized this office space is.

Mudrooms are as important as closets. A beautifully designed and organized mudroom greets you and says goodbye in style. Take a look at the picture below: All necessities are carefully placed in this small place, and every piece is thoughtfully chosen. Each member of the family has their own drawer to store their gloves and scarves, and there is plenty of space to hang up the jackets. A bench, a large mirror to take a last glance at yourself on the way out, and a small table to organize various objects and keys, are very important in a good mudroom design. Again, you don’t need a large space to keep everything well organized. This mudroom exudes luxury, although inexpensive, and is defined by the use of the most essential elements beautifully put together, and enhanced by pretty details.

My next closet is going to be big enough for the island and comfy chair.  However, like you suggest I installed some great organizational shelves in the small closet I have now and have enjoyed it while living in this home.
